The Chinese Scholarship Council has launched the Summer Short-Term Scholarship for Foreign Teachers of Chinese Language for American universities and schools. It aims to facilitate the Chinese Language teaching, promote the exchange of Chinese teaching and learning experiences, and help with the professional development of the Chinese language teachers in the educational institutions in the United States. This training program covers second language teaching theories, teaching methodology, internet and multi-media technique, Chinese culture and other related Chinese language knowledge and skills. The suggested time intervals include: June 10-July 10, June 20-July 20. The universities involved in this training program in China are: Fudan University, Beijing Language & Culture University. Applicants may choose a time interval and a university according to his/her own schedule. Changes may be suggested accordingly.


All Chinese language teachers in American universities and schools preferably under the age of 55 can apply. The Chinese Scholarship Council will provide for the tuition, books and materials, teaching practice, lodging and food in China. The international airfare and other expenses will be taken care of by the applicants themselves. All applicants can go to the website: www.hanban.edu.cn to download application forms.
